Rebuilding Dreams for Out-of-School Girls
Helping Girls to reclaim their right to Education
Across rural Uganda, thousands of girls have been forced out of school due to poverty, early pregnancy, child marriage, or lack of basic resources. Without education, these girls face a lifetime of vulnerability, limited opportunity, and dependence.
The “Back to School” Project by Women Reliance Foundation is a transformative initiative that helps out-of-school girls reclaim their right to education. We provide the resources, counseling, and community support needed for girls to re-enroll, stay in school, and thrive — academically, emotionally, and socially.
What We Do
This project is more than a return to school; it’s a return to hope, dignity, and the chance to lead. We provide a holistic reintegration model that combines:
Education Support
- Full or partial scholarships for school fees, uniforms, books, and supplies.
- Support for day school or vocational pathways, depending on the girl’s needs.
Psychosocial Counseling & Mentorship
- Trauma-informed counseling to address shame, fear, or stigma
- Structured mentorship from female role models who walked similar paths
Menstrual Health Support
- Reusable sanitary pads and menstrual hygiene education
- Safe and clean sanitation facilities to support school attendance
Family & Community Engagement
- Working with parents, guardians, and local leaders to champion girls’ return to school
- Hosting community forums to shift harmful cultural beliefs about girls’ education
Empower a FUTURE
- "Every girl deserves an education! Help us keep girls in school by contributing to our programs. Together, we can break the cycle of poverty and empower the next generation. Get involved now!"
