This project has kick-started 305 women and boosted over 600 women in micro business with the aim of alleviating poverty and creating agents of transformation in the lives of rural women through building sustainable business solutions to ultimately foster economic empowerment within their communities.

The women leaders in communities together with the help of our support staff identify small scale businesses which women can run in their homes, roadside, or hawk door to door . These women are later grouped and trained in economic empowerment programs to equip them with basic financial literacy that builds their resilience to market their goods and services and ensure profitability. They are then given a small startup capital to kickstart them in business and those already in business are given small loans as capital to boost their businesses to increase sales. This has improved their income and enabled them to afford rent, provide meals for their family, school fees and medication for their children.

Activities:

1. Create direct employment opportunity for the poorest of the economically active women entrepreneurs by providing them with micro - loans.
2. Improve the business management skills through training and on site supervision.
3. 100% financial self-sufficiency is to be maintained.
4. Increase the profitability of the women's enterprises through group guaranteed loans.

Some women especially those in rural areas are didn’t get a chance of being introduced to life and entrepreneur skills so as to be able to do something that can add value to their time and productivity.

WRF introduced skills training for women, training that can be done within their communities. This has enabled women to create items which they use at home and also sale to increase on their household income hence improved livelihoods.

We rely on donations and support to be able to empower the women with a skill.

With resources availed, we are able to employ trainers to train different women groups so that they are able to produce different products in bigger quantities to access markets. We believe that skilling women is very fundamental to rural development as families can use the attained skills to supplement family incomes that in the long run improve their livelihoods.

This project promotes climate change and good agricultural practises to ensure food security.

The overall objective of this project is to create resilient, self-sustaining farming communities where poverty and hunger are reduced. This is being achieved through strengthening the livelihoods, nutrition and climate resilience of smallholder farmers in greater Masaka Region.

Majority of women in rural areas are smallholder farmers. WRF sources for micro-financing and basic low level training that the women need to grow more food grow cash crops well so as to earn more money.

Activities:

1. We source for training for women on the latest agricultural practices that are applicable in a rural set-up.
2. We promote vegetable growing to improve on the nutrition of families through the campaign of replacing flowers with eye catching vegetables in their compounds. This makes it easy to manage and they can grow vegetables in and out of season.

This initiative promotes the need to invest in adolescent girls to keep in school to look beyond the vulnerabilities they face given the limited resources within their families and communities and to be change agents within their communities.

Young girls are more likely than their male peers to drop out of school, to marry at an early age, and to bear the brunt of poor sexual and reproductive health outcomes. Adolescent girls face physical and social vulnerabilities that threaten their human rights and livelihood.

Girls tend to enter puberty stage earlier than boys and this marks the beginning of a risk period where they have little control over critical social, health, and economic outcomes that include sexual maturation leading to domestic burdens, migration for work, pressure for marriage, Isolation from peers and this is more likely to lead them to drop out of school.

Investing in the education of the adolescent girls opens up opportunities for women in Uganda to break the cross generational cycle of poverty within families ,and it gives the child ,the family and the community a better future.

The project aims to provide education opportunities to 1,000 disadvantaged and minority children and their families in the Greater Masaka region. The project aims to look for sponsors for children, who otherwise would be deprived access due to financial constraints, by providing funding for tuition and school supplies. The project aims at supporting the students’ families by organizing community groups, distributing income earning assets, and training in child protection and health
